AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ILLICIT TRAFFICKING IN MIGRANTS IS INAUGURATED

AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ILLICIT TRAFFICKING IN MIGRANTS IS INAUGURATED

Today the International Conference on the Smuggling of Migrants: Challenges and Progress of Implementing the Protocol against the Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea and Air, organized jointly by the Mexican government, the European Union and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), was inaugurated. Experts, academics and officials will discuss this issue for three days.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights, Ambassador Juan Manuel Gomez Robledo; the Interior Ministry´s Undersecretary for Population, Migration and Religious Affairs, Gustavo Mohar; the Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, Antonio Mazzitelli; and the Delegate of the European Union to Mexico, Ambassador Marie-Anne Coninsx.
