The Foreign Ministry’s Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights, Ambassador Juan Manuel Gomez Robledo, discussed the vision of the Mexican Presidency of the G20 during the thirteenth session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Doha, Qatar.

In a special session on the G20, the Undersecretary discussed the five priorities of the Mexican presidency of the G20 as well as the main activities that have taken place since Mexico’s presidency began. He said the main objective is global economic stabilization and structural reforms to achieve growth and employment.

He noted that the outreach to and collaboration with international agencies such as UNCTAD is part of the work being done by the G20 and especially by the Development Working Group, and that the contributions of the international organizations were very important.

At a roundtable on the challenges to development, Gómez Robledo emphasized that the Mexican Presidency of the G20 is inclusive and has sought to work with other actors to promote development, which is why the participation of countries such as Colombia, Chile, Benin, Ethiopia and Cambodia was important to the work of the G20.
