MEXICO AND RUSSIA INTERESTED IN STRENGTHENING THE BILATERAL RELATIONSHIP TO MARK THE START OF RUSSIAN PRESIDENT VLADIMIR PUTIN’S TERM

The Foreign Ministry reports that President Felipe Calderón exchanged messages with Russian President Vladimir Putin after his recent election and inauguration as President of Russia.

Both leaders reiterated the importance they attach to the bilateral relationship and  their commitment to strengthening its various aspects. President Calderón wished President Putin every success during his term and invited him to participate in the upcoming G20 Summit that will be held in Los Cabos from June 18-19.

The Mexican government also congratulates the new Russian government headed by Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev and expresses its desire to continue working closely with Russia to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest to the benefit of the Mexican and Russian people.
