THE AMEXCID EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR PARTICIPATES IN THE OECD MINISTERIAL MEETING ON DEVELOPMENT

• Mexico supports the OECD’s Development Strategy of evaluating the development plans of each country.

• The development priorities of the Mexican Presidency of the G20 were presented.
As part of the May 23-24 OECD ministerial meeting in Paris, a session on “Partners for Development” was held, during which the OECD’s Development Strategy was presented.

The 34 member countries of the OECD were represented, including Mexico, Russia, which is in the process of entering the OECD, and the OECD’s key partners: Brazil, China, India, Indonesia and South Africa.

The Executive Director of the Mexican International Development Cooperation Agency (AMEXCID), Rogelio Granguillhome, said that Mexico supports the OECD development strategy because it takes into account the strategies of the developing countries and contributes to international development efforts.

The head of the AMEXCID stressed that the strategy breaks new ground in finding and implementing global solutions for development. He also stressed the importance of both enhancing cooperation in the fight against poverty and inequality, and promoting social inclusion and economic growth.

Granguillhome said that development is high on the G20 agenda, which takes into account the needs of low-income countries. During the Mexican Presidency of the G20, the Development Working Group has focused on three priorities: food security, development infrastructure and inclusive green growth.

The development dialogue was moderated by Chilean Finance Minister Felipe Larrain. Also participating as speakers were Korean Trade Minister Taeho Bark; Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Ryuji Yamane; French Minister Delegate for Development Pascal Canfin; Spanish Secretary of State for International and Iberoamerican Cooperation Jesús Gracia; Polish Undersecretary for Development Cooperation Jerzy Pomianowski; and the UK Parliamentary Leader and Spokesperson for Health, International Development, Justice, Women and Equality, Baroness Lindsay Northover.
The OECD Ministerial Meeting was chaired by Turkey, with Chile and Poland as vice chairs.

The Mexican delegation was made up of representatives from the Ministries of Finance and Economy. Finance Secretary José Antonio Meade headed the delegation at the meeting on growth and jobs, and Economy Secretary Bruno Ferrari chaired the session on trade and economic growth.
