THE MEXICAN GOVERNMENT WELCOMES THE ADMINISTRATIVE MEASURES THAT WILL BENEFIT YOUNG MEXICANS IN THE U.S.

On behalf of the Mexican government, the Foreign Ministry welcomes today’s announcement by the U.S. government that it will temporarily suspend—on a case-by-case basis—the deportation of undocumented youths who meet certain criteria.

The Mexican government reiterates the importance of achieving comprehensive immigration reforms that acknowledge the complementary nature of both countries’ economies and labor markets and the family ties between the two societies, and create the conditions for the legal, orderly and safe flow of individuals that is respectful of their human rights. Today's announcement is an important acknowledgement of the positive contributions made by ​​thousands of young Mexican immigrants to the economy and society of the United States. 

The Foreign Ministry, through its embassy and consulates in the U.S., will follow the implementation of these measures very carefully, as they have the potential to benefit the young, undocumented Mexicans there.
