MEXICO CONFIRMS ITS COMMITMENT TO SECURITY IN CENTRAL AMERICA The Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean, Ambassador Norma Pensado Moreno, inaugurated the second meeting of the Central America Security Experts Group of the crime-fighting component of the Central American Security Strategy (ESCA) in the Foreign Ministry today. During the opening ceremony, the Undersecretary said that transnational organized crime is a scourge that affects the entire continent and that fighting crime is a shared responsibility. She also confirmed Mexico's commitment to continue supporting efforts to strengthen security in the Central American countries. The meeting was held to continue making progress in developing a comprehensive approach to security to help reduce criminal activities in the hemisphere. The meeting was attended by vice ministers from the Central American countries and the Secretary General of the Central American Integration System (SICA), Dr. John Daniel Alemán Gurdián, and by representatives from 18 countries and seven international organizations that committed to streamlining cooperation between members of the Friends of ESCA Group and Central America.
