THE AFRO-DESCENDANTS IN MEXICO 2012 FORUM IS INAUGURATED

THE AFRO-DESCENDANTS IN MEXICO 2012 FORUM IS INAUGURATED  

The national forum “Afro-descendants in Mexico 2012" was inaugurated today in the Foreign Minsitry. The ceremony was led by the Interior Ministry’s Undersecretary for Legal Affairs and Human Rights, Max Alberto Villar Salas; the Foreign Ministry’s Director General of Human Rights and Democracy, Ambassador Alejandro Negrin Munoz; and President of the National Council to Prevent Discrimination (CONAPRED), Ricardo Bucio Mujica.

Also attending were the Chairman of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination,  Alexey Avtonomov; the Representative for Mexico and Central America of the Ford Foundation, Mario Bronfman; a researcher from the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) and President of the Scientific Committee of the UNESCO Slave Route Project, Maria Luisa Velazquez; and the representative of the civil society organizations of the Costa Chica of Oaxaca and Guerrero, Eva Gasca Noyola.
