FOURTH MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE MESOAMERICA PROJECT

The fourth meeting of the Executive Committee of the Mesoamerica Project began today; it is attended by the Presidential Commissioners of Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua and by representatives from Belize and the Dominican Republic.

The meeting is chaired by the Executive Director of the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID), Ambassador Rogelio Granguillhome Morfin, and Maria Antonieta Guillen de Bogran, First Presidential Designate (Vice President) of Honduras.

During the meeting, the eight areas of the Mesoamerica Project were discussed: transportation, energy, telecommunications, competitiveness, health, risk management, environment and housing.
In addition, the proposed contents of the Consolidated Mesoamerica Project Report: 2008-2012—a progress report—will be presented by the Joint Presidency of the Mesoamerica Project and the Executive Committee as part of their exercise in accountability with the region’s leaders.

The agreements arising from the 4th meeting of the Mesoamerica Project Executive Committee will provide the basis for the further integration of the Mesoamerican countries.
