THE MEXICAN GOVERNMENT APPLAUDS THE AWARD OF THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE TO THE EUROPEAN UNION

On behalf of the Mexican government, the Foreign Ministry applauds the award of the Nobel Peace Prize 2012, a most significant achievement, to the European Union.

The work done by the European Union since its creation to further its ideals of integration has had a positive impact on the entire European continent and the world as a whole and has played a historic role in contemporary life. 

Mexico applauds and welcomes this remarkable distinction given to the people, governments and institutions that have shaped—in a climate of peace and reconciliation—this cooperative developmental effort that is now the European Union.
