THE MEXICAN GOVERNMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 146TH SESSION OF THE INTER-AMERICAN COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS (IACHR) During the 146th session of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) in Washington, DC, the Mexican government will participate in three thematic hearings related to the human rights situation in Mexico on Friday, November 2nd. It will also participate in four workshops on specific pending cases on Saturday, November 3rd. The Inter-American Commission convened three public hearings at which Mexico will explain the progress that has been made with street people in Mexico City; the help the Armed Forces has been giving the police to combat organized crime; and Mexico's cooperation with the Inter-American system of human rights and the progress of human rights at the national level during the current present administration. The hearings will be broadcast in real time on the IACHR website: www.cidh.org The Mexican delegation consists of representatives from the Ministries of the Interior, Foreign Affairs and Defense, the Navy and the Attorney General's Office, as well as state government officials from Chihuahua and Oaxaca. By participating in the hearings, the Mexican government reiterates its full commitment to making progress with human rights at the national level, strengthening its dialogue with civil society organizations and cooperating with the OAS Inter-American Human Rights Commission.
