FOREIGN SECRETARY JOSE ANTONIO MEADE APPOINTS CARLOS PEREZ-VERDÍA AS CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE FOREIGN MINISTRY

Foreign Secretary José Antonio Meade has appointed Carlos Perez-Verdía Canales as the new chief of staff of the Foreign Ministry.

Carlos Perez-Verdía holds a degree in economics from the Iberoamericana University and a doctorate in economics from the University of Chicago.

In 1992, he joined the Banco de México, where he held various positions in the Operations Department, including Analysis Manager and Manager of National Operations (2004-2009). From 2010-2012, he served as Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for Mexico, Central America, Spain and Venezuela. He has taught macroeconomics at national and international institutions, and has served as an IMF expert on technical assistance missions to various countries.

Foreign Secretary Meade thanked the outgoing Chief of Staff, Gonzalo Canseco Gomez, who will be taking on new responsibilities in the Foreign Ministry.
