THE FOREIGN MINISTRY REVIEWS THE BILATERAL ECONOMIC AGENDA WITH A U.S. DELEGATION

The Undersecretary for North America, Sergio Alcocer, and the Executive Director of the Mexican Agency for International Development (AMEXCID), Juan Manuel Valle, met today with U.S. officials for a comprehensive review of the bilateral economic agenda and to find new areas of opportunity at the start of the new administrations in both countries.

The Mexican government reiterated its intention to expand and strengthen its strategic partnership with the United States and to promote a shared vision in North America that improves the region’s competitiveness. The officials discussed the priorities of both governments and they expressed a mutual desire to increase trade and investment, continue modernizing the infrastructure and management of the border and to facilitate exchanges between the two countries to contribute to more job creation.

The U.S. delegation was made up of Assistant Secretary of State José W. Fernandez; Assistant Treasury Secretary Charles Collyns; Assistant Secretary of Commerce Michael Camuñez; and Assistant Transportation Secretary Susan Kurland. They were accompanied by U.S. Ambassador Anthony Wayne.

The U.S. delegation will meet with business leaders and senior officials from other Mexican agencies over the next few days.
