FOREIGN SECRETARY JOSE ANTONIO MEADE MEETS WITH DIPLOMATS FROM AFRICA, THE MIDDLE EAST AND CENTRAL ASIA
Foreign Secretary José Antonio Meade Kuribreña gave a lunch today for the ambassadors from Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia accredited in Mexico to discuss these regions’ relationships with Mexico.
Foreign Secretary Meade discussed the foreign policy priorities of President Enrique Peña Nieto’s administration and his intention to expand Mexico’s political, economic and cultural presence in Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia.
The Foreign Secretary said that the Mexican government will expand its role in the regional organizations in which it has observer status. Mexico believes that the current international scenario represents an opportunity to expand its markets and attract new partners.
Lastly, Foreign Secretary Meade stressed the importance of increasing cooperation on energy and the environment with the countries of the three regions and the benefits of strengthening the dialogue and cooperation in multilateral forums.
Foreign Secretary Meade said he hoped to maintain an ongoing dialogue and close collaboration with the ambassadors accredited in Mexico.
