PRESIDENT ENRIQUE PEÑA NIETO TO ATTEND THE FUNERAL OF PRESIDENT HUGO CHAVEZ

The Mexican government reports that President Enrique Peña Nieto will travel to Venezuela on Thursday to attend the state funeral that will be held for President Hugo Chávez Frías.

The Mexican president will personally convey our country's condolences to the people and government of Venezuela for their loss.

The presence of the Mexican president illustrates the solidarity and friendship that have traditionally linked the Mexican and Venezuelan societies. Mexico is determined to strengthen its relationship with Venezuela as part of its efforts to consolidate a Latin American and Caribbean region that is bound by peace, unity, democracy, equality and development.
