THE MEXICAN EMBASSY IN EL SALVADOR LOCATES A MISSING MEXICAN CHILD
On April 12, the Foreign Ministry’s Department for the Protection of Mexicans Abroad received information indicating that a four-year-old Mexican girl, Valeria Hernandez de Jesus, reported missing from Texcoco in the state of Mexico on April 1 had been seen wandering the streets of Sonsonate, a town about 90 kilometers from San Salvador, El Salvador.
The Mexican Foreign Ministry immediately instructed its embassy there to find her, which was done with help from the National Civil Police (PNC) in Sonsonate. She was taken by the PNC to the immigration office in Acajutla, and from there to the National Council for Childhood and Adolescence (CONNA), the institution responsible for providing protection to children.
Consul Leonardo Ayala has taken all necessary steps with the Salvadoran authorities to repatriate Valeria Hernandez de Jesus. She is in perfect health and is in the safekeeping of the embassy.
She will be repatriated as soon as possible and, with the help of Salvadoran and Mexican authorities, she will be delivered to her family, safely and expediently.
