THE PRESIDENTS OF MEXICO AND THE UNITED STATES TO HOLD BILATERAL MEETINGS IN MEXICO CITY

 

 

The Foreign Ministry reports that President Enrique Pena Nieto will receive U.S. President Barack Obama, who will be on a working visit to Mexico, on Thursday, May 2nd in the afternoon. There will be a meeting of the presidents and their teams, followed by a joint press conference. In the night, the Mexican president will host a dinner for President Obama, at which they will continue their conversation.

 

During the visit, they will discuss the key issues of the broad bilateral agenda and will seek to strengthen areas such as competitiveness, border management, education and innovation, trade and investment and public safety. They will also exchange views on migration, an area in which the Mexican government reiterates its commitment to the welfare of its citizens who reside abroad. They will also review regional and global issues that affect both countries.

 

On Friday, May 3rd, President Obama’s agenda includes a meeting with representatives from various non-governmental sectors of Mexican society.

 

The Mexican government appreciates and shares the interest of the U.S. government in strengthening the direct, ongoing dialogue with the civil society in both countries.
