WORKING DINNER FOR THE MEXICO-EU JOINT PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE

 

On behalf of the Foreign Ministry, Undersecretary Carlos de Icaza hosted a working dinner in honor of European and Mexican legislators involved in the 15th meeting of the Mexico-European Union Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).

 

During the first meeting of the parliamentarians under President Pena Nieto’s administration, Undersecretary de Icaza invited the participants to give more content, continuity and dynamism to the relationship with the European Union.

 

The chair of the delegation to the Mexico-EU Joint Parliamentary Committee, MEP Ricardo Cortés Lastra, and the President of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee on Europe, Rabindranath Salazar Solorio, applauded the progress made in the parliamentary forum.

 

The JPC is a forum for dialogue that seeks to improve the relationship between Mexico and thcountries of the European Union, agree on common positions on human rights and the rule of law and promote joint economic, scientific and educational projects.

 

Ten members of the European Parliament (MEPs), eight Mexican senators and five Mexican deputies are participating in the 15th meeting.

 

The program runs from May 2 – 4 and includes activities in Mexico City and Morelos.
