FOREIGN SECRETARY MEADE APPOINTS AMBASSADOR DE MARIA Y CAMPOS AS THE NEW DIRECTOR GENERAL OF THE MATÍAS ROMERO INSTITUTE
The Foreign Ministry reports that Foreign Secretary José Antonio Meade has appointed Ambassador Alfonso de Maria y Campos Castelló as Director General of the Matías Romero Institute effective May 1st.
Ambassador Maria y Campos Castellóudied law and political science at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and did graduate studies at the University of Cambridge in the UK. He has taught at the UNAM and the Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM).
He was the coordinator of University Extension at the UNAM, Director General of Publications at the National Council for Culture and the Arts (CONACULTA) and Director General of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).
In the Foreign Ministry, he has served as Director General of Cultural Affairs; Europe; Mexican Communities Abroad; and North America and Consul General in San Francisco, California (United States). He rose to the rank of Ambassador in April 2005.
Ambassador de Maria replaces Ambassador Pablo Macedo Riba, whose work and leadership at the Matías Romero Institute is appreciated, and who has our best wishes for his professional and personal success at his new post, to which he will be appointed to in the near future. |
