THE FOREIGN MINISTRY RECEIVES THE 2013 CLARES AWARD

• The Foreign Ministry received the award for international development cooperation.

On April 25, the Foreign Ministry received the 2013 CLARES award from Anahuac University for international development cooperation due to Mexico’s role in the Mexico Partnership for Haiti. The university’s Latin American Center for Social Responsibility (CLARES) gave the award.

The CLARES Award for Social Responsibility is given to institutions and individuals who have demonstrated their commitment to the neediest social groups and have done an exceptional job in improving their living conditions.

The award, which is in its sixth year, has six categories: corporate foundation, social foundation, private company, government agency, SMEs, international foundation, international development cooperation and social leader.

The event was chaired by Jaime Duran Lomeli, Vice President of the Anahuac University’s North Campus, and Dr. Roberto Delgado, CLARES Director. They were accompanied by Rolando Zapata Bello, Governor of Yucatan and Salvador Ledón Macias, President of Chrysler Foundation in Mexico.

The Foreign Ministry received the award for its work with the Mexico Partnership for Haiti and its social commitment to the Haitian people. The partnership included Fomento Social Banamex, BBVA Bancomer Foundation, Cuervo Foundation, Chrysler Foundation, Televisa Foundation, United for Them and the Azteca Foundation.

The partnership between the Foreign Ministry and the private sector gave the Haitian people two schools/orphanages, a trade school, a center for comprehensive care and a clinic for primary health care.

The Foreign Ministry’s Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID) reaffirms its commitment with the global development agenda.
