MEXICO AND THE NETHERLANDS HOLD POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS

The Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Carlos de Icaza, and the Director General for Political Affairs of the Dutch Foreign Ministry, Karel van Oosterom, co-chaired a meeting for political consultations on various bilateral and multilateral issues of interest to Mexico and the Netherlands.

Both officials agreed on the dynamic nature and importance of Dutch investments in Mexico and on the excellent state of the commercial relationship. They also agreed to continue cooperating to take advantage of the potential that remains untapped in the bilateral relationship.

As regards the political dialogue, both officials expressed their readiness to arrange reciprocal high-level visits in the near future.

After the meeting with Undersecretary de Icaza, Director General Van Oosterom consulted further with the areas of the Foreign Ministry responsible for multilateral issues such as international security, climate change, disarmament, human rights and other issues.

Lastly, Minister Van Oosterom met with Vanessa Rubio, Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean, to discuss regional issues.
